Neuropsychologist
Dr. Donald E. Read Assessing the long term consequences of Traumatic Brain Injury requires expertise and experience. In addition to assessing clients for litigation purposes, Dr. Donald E. Read (Reg. Psych) also consults to an interdisciplinary team that provides assessment and treatment for survivors of traumatic brain injury. This gives him access to the real life experiences of survivors over the longer term and provides him with a perspective on the needs of brain injury survivors that is not available to most Neuropsychologists. Dr. Read was trained specifically in the field of neuropsychology at McGill University and the Montreal Neurological Hospital, and has many years of experience in this field. Clinical Psychologist Dr. John W. MacDonald Providing effective treatment for survivors of traumatic injury requires empathy and expertise in a wide range of therapeutic disciplines. Dr. MacDonald (Reg. Psych) comes to us with more than 30 years providing treatment to survivors of traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries as well as other neurological and spinal cord conditions at GF Strong. He was the Practice Coordinator at GF Strong and he also was the sole charge psychologist responsible for the development of clinical services in the acute setting at Royal Inland Hospital for three years prior. Dr. MacDonald was instrumental in developing a highly effective self-management program for survivors of mild-moderate traumatic brain injury at GF Strong and is committed to broadening the implementation of this program in the private sector. Occupational Therapists Sue Barlow, B.Sc. (OT) (Reg. B.C.) is our senior Occupational Therapist mentor and trainer with more than 10 years experience providing therapy, education, and self-management services to clients with mild-moderate brain injuries. She received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of British Columbia in 1999 and a Bachelor of Physical Education from McMaster University in 1994. Ms. Barlow is a highly skilled OT and her specialty is in Community-based provision of occupational therapy services to brain injured, soft tissue, and orthopaedic clients following traumatic accidents. She has been instrumental in the development and delivery of a highly effective self-management program for persons with mild-moderate brain injury at G.F Strong and is an expert witness in the Supreme Court of Canada.
Carlin Lindsay BKin, MSc OT (Reg. B.C.) joined Raincoast Community Rehabilitation in September 2009 after graduating from the Master’s of Occupational Therapy at Queen’s University. Carlin has extensive experience helping people with disabilities engage in meaningful occupation and be contributing members to society. Prior to her OT training Carlin working in a number of settings with people of all ages and abilities including an inpatient mental health hospital for children and adolescents, a day program for older adults, school for children with autism and as a rehabilitation aid at a rehab and fitness facility. Carlin’s OT internships were just as diverse and included one in an outpatient neurological rehabilitation clinic. Her experience includes functional, perceptual and cognitive assessments as well as individualized rehabilitation programs for those with neurological disorders.
Bianca Drobnik OT ( Reg. B.C.) received her training in Germany and has been practicing since 2001. She has worked with survivors of traumatic brain injuries in many different settings in Germany, including community rehabilitation, acute care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation in hospital settings as well as in private practice. Bianca has extensive training in different areas of rehabilitation and topics, from neuropsychological impairments such as neglect to a gestalt therapeutic approach to psychosocial problems. She also has experience with working in vocational rehabilitation and return to work programs as well as the mental health and pediatric fields in Germany.
Katy Condon, BSc (FNH), M.O.T. (Reg. B.C.) joined Raincoast Community Rehabilitation Services in 2007 as Supervising Occupational Therapist. Ms. Condon has extensive experience helping individuals with acquired, traumatic brain injuries and individuals with home health needs. Ms. Condon has previous experience in acute mental health and acute orthopedics, in an outpatient neuro-rehabilitation program, in vocational rehabilitation and in community mental health. Ms. Condon also has extensive experience working with pediatrics both in the hospital and private settings, including physical dysfunction and learning disabled populations. Director — Marc GoroshMarc Gorosh is a Registered Rehabilitation Professional and has worked with Raincoast Community Rehabilitation Services Inc. for 19 years providing community based assessments, rehabilitation and long-term support services for survivors of traumatic brain injury.
Registered Rehabilitation Professionals (RRP)As part of our community based service delivery model Rehabilitation Workers provide service to clients on a regular basis. It is our hiring practice to seek staff who have as a minimum qualification a bachelors level degree and RRP status or who could be granted this status once hired.
